About Me
I’m Pablo Huertas, a cybersecurity and infrastructure specialist with 19 years of experience based in Guatemala City.
My day job is running a support team for an enterprise SIEM platform at a managed security provider with a team of engineers across North America, LATAM and EMEA with customers in banking, government, healthcare, and critical infrastructure. I’ve been working US hours since 2007 and doing this specific kind of work since 2014.
Most of what I know comes from my experience in the trenches working on other people’s production environments at bad moments. Log sources that stopped reporting three weeks earlier and nobody noticed. Parsers dropping half of events silently. Failed upgrades due to disks running out of space. Alert channels so noisy the SOC muted them and missed the one that mattered, etc.
This blog is the working notes. Things I figured out, written down while they were still fresh enough to be accurate.
